iR35 Compliance and Readiness with 5 weeks to go

With just 5 weeks until additional iR35 responsibilities hit contractors through to end clients time is now to act if you haven’t done so already.

A large number of clients have made the decision not to directly engage PSC contractors directly which is an error and short sighted.

However, some are still working through what it means to them or are burying their head in the sand and hoping HMRC doesn’t turn up at their door.

We at People Squad have helped clarify this situation with clients for years now in the public sector and now in the private sector too.

We have know how best to set up such arrangements and also how to ensure that your current consultant pool is compliant.

Here are some of our approach to success:

  1. Establish an agreement with the employing body to deliver services
  2. Clearly identify the programmes of work, ways of working and deliverables that consultants are involved within;
  3. Identify service streams, high level risk areas, roles & responsibilities and structures of delivery;
  4. Establish clear Statements of Work (also know as #sow) per deliverables and then down to per consultant within their consultancy agreement;
  5. This needs to be reviewed continually to ensure that our clients are not at risk in the process and neither too are our consultants.

At People Squad we can provide teams of consultants but in essence you are engaging us as a consultancy to deliver SOW’s and therefore have the benefit of a wider pool of talent than simply engaging individual consultants.

We have ‘skin in the game’ and therefore commitment to your success. Of course we can recruit for our clients on permanent and contracting basis but that is not our preferred option and clients really benefit from our active involvement which ultimately ensures success and also knowledge transition post completion.
